“Vision” – The future based dream you have of your life, the reason why you do the things you do.
In this blog post, we’re going to talk about the 3 reasons why it’s important to have a vision for your life. The reasons are it subconsciously gives you something to work towards and attracts the life you want…. in a round-about way, it helps you put the steps into place to create goals that work, and it helps you to stay motivated when it gets rough.
Attracts the Life You Want!
When you have a vision for your life you can still attract some positive things into your life. Even if you don’t set goals, you’ll eventually attract some of what you want into your life. This is because it’s something you think about. If you don’t already know, what you think about you bring about. This is known as the Law of Attraction/ Philosophy of Mind for my academics lol
Guides Your Goal Efforts
However, when you do set goals based on your vision you’re able to put steps in place that guide your efforts towards your goals. These steps can be the daily tasks & habits you form that consciously and subconsciously move you towards your vision! In addition to the subconscious mind helping to move you forward, the Universe is also conspiring to get you what you want as well! This will lead to having what you want much sooner than you had initially anticipated.
Side note because I can’t help myself… lol
Here’s something I found interesting: You thought it would take a lifetime but with mindset work, goals, action steps, and a strong desire to succeed it takes less than 5 years. So much for a lifetime! According to some psychology article I read or in my textbooks somewhere (Psych Minor) it’s said that we, as humans, tend to overestimate how long it takes to get something done in a short amount of time and we underestimate how long it takes to get done in a longer amount of time. Imagine that!
You can test out this theory with the whole “I don’t have time” thing… it’s not really true. Just make the time! FlyLady says you can get a lot done if you just set a timer for two minutes. What can you set a timer for today?
Anyway…
Re-ignites that fire when things get rough!
Finally a vision for your life is important because it can be used to reignite and motivate you toward your goals. This is especially true when Murphy shows up or better yet the biggest Saboteur of all shows up… YOU! Murphy’s Law is simply a theory saying that “what can go wrong, will go wrong”. Add this to the subconscious self-sabotage of resistance to accomplishing your goals and you end up with a lot of internal and external roadblocks. Your goals and your vision can be just the thing you need to get you moving again.
Whenever I think about my vision I usually get so pumped I work for hours and hours because I want that vision of my life to come true… And that’s what I want for you as well!
So the 3 reasons having a vision is important for your life is it attracts more of what you want in your life, it creates a roadmap for which to create effective goals, and it keeps you motivated when external and internal saboteurs show up!
