I’ve been doing a lot of research regarding local businesses and what I’m finding is interesting.
Confession… I often think that what I know and do is “common knowledge” and that if I’m doing it everyone else is doing it because I often feel out of the loop and behind on the trend.
So imagine my surprise when I joined a few email lists for different professional service providers and… nothing!
Nothing happened.
I even wondered if I’d typed my email address incorrectly or what because there wasn’t even a confirmation email being sent.
“Wow!”, I thought to myself, this isn’t good!
There’s research that shows that not only is email marketing powerful but can signal intent to go further and deeper to solve this problem.
Did you know that if someone joins your email list when there’s no freebie attached you’ve actually got a legit lead?
This person signed up specifically to hear from you.
I did some anecdotal research and the results showed 90% of people expected a welcome email (even if there wasn’t a freebie attached!)
90% of women expected a welcome email even if there wasn’t a freebie given.
Also, did you know that a person who joins your email list has probably recently joined someone else’s list and that, on average, whoever reaches out first often wins the sale?
This means that just having a welcome email sequence that starts *automagically* when someone joins your list increases the likelihood of you gaining a new client.
This doesn’t mean hammering them with sales emails. It means educating and guiding them and making it possible for them to purchase when they are ready.
Do you have a welcome email sequence? Let me know in the comments.
